Pate honored

Lafayette senior powerlifter M.C. Pate was named to the Second Team Elite Eleven late last month. Pate was an integral part in the Lafayette Lady Commodores’ North Half victory and is one of two girls in the state that were honored from the 97-pound weight class. (more…) (April 1, 2011, Page 8A)

    LHS qualifies four for state meet

    Four Lafayette High lifters qualified for next month’s Class 4A state powerlifting meet with top three finishes this past weekend in the North Half meet held at Lexington-McClain. Lafayette finished tied third as a team in the event with 28 points. North Pontotoc also had 28 points. McClain won the overall North Half title with 44 points. (more…) (March 8, 2011, Page 8)

      Lafayette girls win 4A North Half title

      A balanced lineup coupled with a great overall effort proved to be the right combination for the Lafayette Lady Commodores Thursday in the Class 4A North Half powerlifting meet held at Itawamba AHS. LHS qualified 11 of its 12 lifters that took part in the event and easily won the first place by totaling 65 points, 18 more than second-place finisher Pontotoc. (March 4, 2011, Page 6A)

        Ten ‘Dores qualify for North Half

          LHS Girls finish second in Calhoun City

          Lafayette’s girls powerlifting team recorded 39 points to finish second in recent action at Calhoun City. Charleston won the meet with 50 points, while Pontotoc. LHS had eight girls finish in the top three of their weight classes. (more…) (February 4, 2011, Page 6A)

              Lafayette lifters experienced, looking for more accolades

              Experienced lifters is a common thread the Lafayette girls and boys powerlifting teams share this year. A season after the Commodores won the Class 4A title and the Lady Commodores finished third in the state in its Class II division, several lifters who were on those teams return to both squads in the attempt to repeat those lofty results.                 Team effort lifts ‘Dores to Class 4A title

                Lafayette won the school’s first team powerlifting title Saturday at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson thanks to five outstanding performances.

                In a meet that came down to the final deadlift, the Commodores captured the MHSAA’s Class 4A state title by a single point. LHS totaled 24 points on the day, one better than Itawamba AHS and two better than third-place finisher Columbia. (April 19, 2010, Page 1B)

                    Commodores take home Region 2-4A title Saturday

                    LAFAYETTE POWERLIFTING — The Lafayette boys powerlifting team may be young, but they continued to show their strength and talent Saturday at the Division 2-4A powerlifting meet held at Lexington-McClain.
