Commodores’ defense gets tough against Jaguars

SOUTHAVEN — There was one common theme in Lafayette’s 21-6 win over DeSoto Central Friday night, the defense. While the offense made some key plays on scoring drives and the special teams unit continued to show some improvement, the Commodores’ defense looked in mid-season form, or a lot like they have in the past when they won state championships. (September 9, 2013, Page 2B)

Two athletic teams that pose all different sort of problems is what Oxford and Water Valley host tonight at home. Robertson, ‘Dores want to improve on mistakes

One of the main goals for the Lafayette Commodores heading into Week 2 is to cut down on the mistakes made in the season opener at Tupelo. In the 36-21 loss, LHS coach Eric Robertson saw his young team do things that past teams haven’t but the good news he knows they are fixable. (August 29, 2013, Page 8)

              Tupelo upends Lafayette in opener

TUPELO — The Lafayette Commodores opened up the 2013 season just like they did in 2012, with a matchup against the Tupelo Golden Wave Friday night.
This year’s matchup was a far cry from the 8-3 defensive struggle that took place last season as Tupelo defeated the Commodores 36-21. (August 26, 2013, Page 3B)

‘Dores look to get better against GHS

Lafayette coach Eric Robertson didn’t have to do a lot to convince his players that Greenwood, Friday night’s opponent, can play. All Robertson had to do was show them the film of the Bulldogs’ 52-12 win over Leflore County in Week 1 of the season and remind them that 18 of 22 starters return to a team looking to gain a measure of revenge for last season’s 42-0 loss to the Commodores. (August 23, 2012, Page 6)
