Local baseball teams creating excitement

From Ole Miss’ exciting sweep over SEC and instate rival Mississippi State to Oxford and Lafayette both advancing to the North Half finals in their classifications, last week was big for local baseball fans.         Stanley seeks more success at Delta State

        Luke Stanley is heading to one of the Magnolia State’s most tradition-rich programs after helping to establish a winning culture at Northeast Mississippi Community College.           Knights sweep ‘Dores out of playoffs

          Lafayette’s season came to a bitter end Saturday night in the Class 4A playoffs. The Commodores went back and forth with West Lauderdale in Game 2 of the teams’ best-of-three series after the Knights were convincing in their 9-4 victory in the opener Friday night in Oxford. (May 12, 2014, Page 8)

              Offense leads ‘Dores past Corinth, into next round

              While the first two games between the Lafayette Commodores and the Corinth Warriors came down to the final out and then some, the decisive third game didn’t offer much suspense with the Commodores defeating the Warriors 10-2 at W.V. Brewer Field Saturday night to take the series and advance to the North Half semifinals of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs. (May 5, 2014, Page 8)
