      PONTOTOC — The Lafayette Lady Commodores had their wings clipped Thursday.

        Early start, run key Lady ‘Dores

        Lafayette’s youth and inexperience, concerns of coach Amy Sutton heading into the season, looked more like a well seasoned unit Monday night in the opener of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs. The Lady Commodores led from start to finish against Yazoo County and ended up advancing to the 4A North Half Tournament with a 63-51 win over the Lady Panthers in the LHS gym.           ‘Lady Dores advance to 2-4A title game

          ECRU — New Albany’s spell over the Lafayette Lady Commodores finally came to an end. It wasn’t easy, but the Lady Commodores weathered a 43-point performance from New Albany’s Jazmine Spears to post a thrilling 61-60 win over the Lady Bulldogs Thursday in the Division 2-4A Tournament.

          The victory not only improved the Lady Commodores to 12-10 overall, but advanced them to tonight’s 2-4A title game against host North Pontotoc and earned them a home game in the first round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs Monday night.

                Lady ‘Dores overcome injuries to claim crucial win

                If there was ever a time for the Lafayette Lady Commodores to pull together as a team, Friday night’s Division 2-4A home game against Tunica-Rosa Fort was the perfect setting.                     Area players help lead NWCC past Southwest

                    Former Lafayette High standouts, Nikki McChristian and Shaq Isom, helped lead the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers to a 67-62 win over Southwest in the Coca-Cola Classic held in Summit Monday night. McChristian scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Isom had nine and eight in the victory. NWCC is now 4-0 on the year. The Rangers also grabbed a road win, defeating Co-Lin 76-66 (November 13, 2012, Page 7)
