    Burglary spree suspects sentenced

    Two of three men arrested last year for breaking into several homes in Oxford and Lafayette County pleaded guilty during the October court term of the Lafayette County Circuit Court and were sentenced to 10 or more years in prison.       Three indicted for summer murder

        Driver gets 12 years in Wheats’ deaths

        On the day after what would have been Sarah Wheats’ 24th birthday, her family spent Monday morning at the Lafayette County Courthouse where the man responsible for her death, and the death of her brother John William Wheat, was sentenced to 12 years in prison. (September 24, 2013, Page 1, 2)

            Man charged in cousin’s death

            The February grand jury handed down many indictments including one for George Serrico Williams, charged with culpable negligence manslaughter for allegedly unintentionally running over his cousin last August in Taylor.                 Robber indicted in shooting

                One of two men who were arrested for breaking into an apartment in March and shooting the resident in the leg has been indicted by a grand jury, Robert Andrew Okelley was indicted on charges of robbery, aggravated assault and burglary of a dwelling.                   Former Rebel, NFL player settles pit bull lawsuit

                  A former NFL player and his neighbors have settled an almost three-year-old lawsuit. Derrick Burgess was accused of allowing his 10 to 15 pitbulls run wild in the neighborhood by neighbors. The suit was settled and Burgess has installed an underground fence to keep the dogs in his yard. (June 27, 2012, Page 2)
