      Lafayette’s Mack, Jones talk win over Greenwood

          LHS dominates Golden Wave in opener

          TUPELO — With all the preseason hype surrounding the program, Lafayette Commodores’ head football coach Anthony Hart had some concerns about going into Friday night’s road matchup at 6A Tupelo to open the 2011 season.
          It was obvious that the Golden Wave had some concerns of its own — LHS running back Demarkous Dennis and quarterback Jeremy Liggins. They just didn’t count on everyone else pitching in on the 40-11 ‘Dores win. (August 22, 2011, Page 1B)

              Mills, Lewis take part in Crossroads All-Star Game

              Lafayette infielder Josh Mills and head coach Greg Lewis took part in Saturday’s Crossroads Diamond Club All-Star game played at Pearl’s Trustmark Park. Mills was a member of the North squad in the 4-5-6A game that the South won 12-11. Mills went 0-for-2 with a walk at the plate and also recorded a stolen base. Lewis, who served as a co-head coach with Lewisburg’s Rusty Cagle, said Mills played third base during his time in the field and that the overall experience was a good one. Lewis added he liked being around the players that were headed to the next level to play college ball. (June 6, 2011, Page 7)

                Lafayette takes doubleheader from OHS

                There were several new faces and numbers to learn for those who attended Thursday night’s summer league baseball game between Lafayette and Oxford at Edwin Moak Field. Less than a month after a veteran OHS team wrapped up the season against Ridgeland, coach Chris Baughman is having to re-tool his lineup with several younger members of the program. (June 3, 2011, Page 6A)

                  More support, structure needed at LHS

                  The last few seasons has been a great time to be a fan of the Lafayette Commodores.
                  The football team won its first state championship under Anthony Hart, the cross country teams finished high at the state meet under Mississippi Association Coach of the Year Ben Mikell, the girls basketball program has reached the state tournament under coach Amy Sutton, the girls track team finished second this year at the MHSAA state meet under the guidance of Sutton and Mikell, the tennis team earned its first individual state title winners, while other sports have performed at a high level.                     Robbins pitches Vikings into next round

                    ECRU — Even on a night where some said he didn’t have his best stuff and was pitching on short rest, North Pontotoc left-hander Kyle Robbins was able to do what he wanted against the Lafayette Commodores in Monday’s elimination game. (May 3, 2011, Page 6)
