Tough pre-regional schedules are the rule rather than the exception for Oxford, Lafayette and Water Valley high schools as they open their 2013 slates tonight. Oxford hosts defending MAIS champion Jackson Prep, Class 4A Lafayette travels to Class 6A Tupelo and Class 3A Water Valley plays at defending Region 2-4A champion New Albany. All three games have 7 p.m. kickoffs and can be heard on local radio stations. (August 23, 2013, Page 7A)
It’s hard to imagine Lafayette could have opened its Division 2-4A schedule any better than it did Tuesday night at W.V. Brewer Field.
With the end of the regular season rapidly approaching, all three area football teams are jostling for region and post-season positioning tonight.
Water Valley probably headlines the area’s action with a road test at Aberdeen, while Oxford (8-0 overall, 4-0 Region 1-5A) hosts 1-5A foe Saltillo and Lafayette welcomes 2-4A rival Senatobia to William L. Buford Stadium.
All three games are set for 7 p.m. kickoffs. Oxford’s game can be heard on 95.5 FM, while Water Valley’s will be broadcast on 105.5 FM and Lafayette’s on 93.7 FM. (October 19, 2012, Page 6A)

AMORY — Apparently the rumors were true.
Amory coach Chad Williams found out first hand why folks were calling Lafayette pitcher Luke Stanley a tough staff ace to face.
Thursday evening, Stanley struck out 10 in Lafayette’s 3-0 road win over the Amory Panthers in the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs. (April 27, 2012, Page 7A)
The Lafayette High School baseball team moved one step closer to locking up a playoff spot with a pair of wins against Rosa Fort on Tuesday evening.
