SENATOBIA — Lafayette had all the momentum.

Lafayette’s trio of Peyton Hamann, Rachel Starnes and Esmeralda Rodriguez helped lift the Lady Commodores to a second-place finish in the Division 1-4A Cross-Country Championships Saturday in Corinth. There is plenty to play for for the area’s three high school football teams this week.
Oxford, the state’s fifth-ranked overall team, will host Clarksdale for the outright Region 1-5A title Friday night while Class 3A No. 5 Water Valley needs a victory over Independence to keep pace atop the Region 2-3A standings. Lafayette has to win its final two games beginning with Senatobia to get one of Region 2-4A’s three playoff berths. (October 25, 2013, Page 6A)
