Lady ‘Dores cruise to North Half final

HOLLY SPRINGS — Lafayette is one of the last four volleyball teams standing.
The Lady Commodores eased their way into the North Half final with a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) of H.W. Byers in the second round of the MHSAA Class I state playoffs Saturday afternoon in Holly Springs. (October 28, 2013, Page 4B)

    Big second half pushes ‘Dores past Senatobia

    BLOG — Through two and half quarters against Senatobia, Lafayette couldn’t stay out of its way, committing 11 penalties. In the final quarter and half, the Commodores only had one.

      OHS aims for region title; LHS, WVHS look to stay on a roll

      There is plenty to play for for the area’s three high school football teams this week.
      Oxford, the state’s fifth-ranked overall team, will host Clarksdale for the outright Region 1-5A title Friday night while Class 3A No. 5 Water Valley needs a victory over Independence to keep pace atop the Region 2-3A standings. Lafayette has to win its final two games beginning with Senatobia to get one of Region 2-4A’s three playoff berths. (October 25, 2013, Page 6A)

                  LHS sweeps Choctaw Co. out of playoffs

                  BLOG — It took Lafayette just three sets to get back where it was in last year’s playoffs.
