‘Dores drop two games in Pontotoc
Two early season tests ended up being valuable learning experiences for the Lafayette Commodores Thursday night in the Pontotoc Tournament.

Lafayette pounds South Panola in baseball action
Lafayette’s middle school baseball team earned two lopsided 14-0 wins over South Panola Thursday. Both wins were no-hitters for the Commodores, who had four pitchers combine to strike out 19 batters.
‘Dores open season with two wins

Experienced squads set to begin ’11 season
Senior leadership is something all three area high school baseball teams have in abundance heading into the 2011 season.
Lafayette, Oxford and Water Valley all return multiple position players from teams that were more than competitive on the diamond in 2010.
The Blue Devils advanced the farthest of any team from the area last year and with seven returners back from a team that won the Class 3A North Half title, successful results are expected again this year. (February 25, 2011, Page 7A)

Mize signs with Blue Mountain College
Former Lafayette standout baseball player Hunter Mize has signed with Blue Mountain College after playing two seasons at Northeast Community College. While at NECC, Mize hit .304 with two home runs, two doubles and 35 RBIs. He also had a .423 on-base percentage last season. (December 3, 2010, Page 9A)
LHS benefit golf tournament
The 2nd annual Lafayette Baseball Golf Tournament will be held Saturday at the Ole Miss Golf Course. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and run through the start time at 8 a.m. Cost is $60 per person to enter the four-man scramble.
Lunch will be provided and there will be prizes for golfers who finish first and second as well as a prize awarded for the longest drive.
