Blue Devils look to rebound against Jags

Coming off of a rare loss last week, the Water Valley Blue Devils must now regroup to face a new-look J.Z. George Jaguars squad.

Led by former Eupora assistant coach Joey Thompkins, the Jaguars (2-3 overall) have already eclipsed last year’s win total in five games. (September 20, 2012, Page 9)

    WVHS hoops splits with J.Z. George

    Water Valley grabbed an early lead, 27-5, in the first half and held on to defeat J.Z. George 46-43 in the boys game Tuesday night. C.J. Jackson, Johnathan Kirkwood and Chris Conard all scored 10 points in the victory for the 2-1 Blue Devils. E.J. Bounds finished with nine points. Water Valley’s girls lost 40-30 in the first game of the doubleheader. Haley Vance scored 16 points for the Lady Blue Devils, who are now 1-2 on the year. Both varsity teams return to action Friday night at South Panola. Action begins with a JV boys game at 5. (December 7, 2011, Page 6)

      WVHS gets back on track with shutout

      CARROLLTON — Brad Embry wanted to see a fast start Friday night from his team coming off its most disappointing loss of the season.         Blue Devils show fresh legs in latest win

        A fresh group of Blue Devils proved to be too much of a match for J.Z. George in Tuesday’s boys basketball game in the WVHS gym.

        Water Valley jumped out to an early lead and was able to sustain it throughout the contest en route to a lopsided 49-27 win over the Jaguars. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Blue Devils, who improved to 10-4 on the year.

        Water Valley’s girls were not as fortunate in their game as they lost 40-24 to J.Z. George. (January 5, 2011, Page 6)

          Rushing attack leads WVHS past Jaguars

          A dominant ground attack led the Water Valley Blue Devils to an impressive 41-14 victory over the J.Z. George Jaguars Friday night at Bobby Clark Field.
