    ‘Cats pounce on opportunities

    WATER VALLEY — The Wildcats made the most of their limited opportunities and the Blue Devils didn’t.

    An opportunistic Independence club plated three early runs in its second-round opener at Blue Devil Field and that’s all that was needed to claim a 3-0 victory against Water Valley. (May 6, 2013, Page 7A)

      Confident Blue Devils ready for ‘Cats

        WVHS gets closer to No. 2 seed in 3-3A

          Russo hired to turn around IHS

          Long-time Water Valley defensive coordinator Richard Russo has accepted the head coach position at Independence.

          Russo, who has been on head coach Brad Embry’s staff since arriving in Water Valley in 2008, said he officially accepted the Wildcats’ position last Tuesday but just yesterday began spreading the word. (March 19, 2013, Page 8)

            Blue Devils blow out Wildcats

              Water Valley cruises in opener

              BLOG: It’s hard to imagine the Blue Devils could have started their 2012 season in a more impressive fashion.

              Friday night, Water Valley cruised to a lopsided 41-0 victory over Independence at Bobby Clark Field with all of the game’s points coming before halftime.

                Blue Devils prepared for season opener

                The weeks of working in the sweltering Mississippi heat will finally be put to the test Friday night.

                  Chargers rally to defeat Wildcats

                  Oxford concluded its annual Spring Break Tournament at Edwin Moak Field on Thursday with a 3-2 win over Independence that showed the Chargers’ ability to pitch, defend and score runs in an efficient manner.

                  Even though the Chargers (7-5 overall) fell behind the Wildcats 2-0, there was never any panic, never any despair shown in the dugout that a comeback wasn’t going to be made. (March 16, 2012, Page 6A)
