Crosstown rivalry’s history keeps growing

It’s time for yet another Crosstown Classic football matchup as Lafayette’s Commodores travel just a couple of miles to take on the Oxford Chargers in a Thursday night TV game from Bobby Holcomb Field.           MHSAA considering new sites for football championships

          JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi’s high school football championship games could be coming to a stadium — or university — near you.

          The Mississippi High School Activities Association is open to exploring other sites for the organization’s six football title games, which will be played for the 20th straight year this week at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson. (more…) (November 29, 2011, Page 7)

            Chargers win in OT against Saltillo

            SPORTS BLOG: SALTILLO — The Oxford Chargers used a five touchdown performance from senior running back Mont Dean and a much more physical defense in the second half to capture a 35-28 overtime win against Region 1-5A foe Saltillo Friday night at Willis Wright Stadium.

                LHS rolls over Shannon

                SPORTS BLOG: SHANNON — The Lafayette Commodores showed why they are the top team in Mississippi once again Friday night with a 56-14 win over Shannon.
