Little relief from blistering heat

Temperatures are expected to hit 103 this weekend and could feel more like 105 to 114 with the heat index as humidity levels begin to climb today. Fire officials are asking everyone to be safe and use precautions setting off fireworks in the county or burning until when and if a burn ban is placed into effect for Lafayette County. (June 28, 2012, Page 1, 2)

    Heat warnings remain

    Temperatures are expected to hit close to 100 again over the weekend. The heat is being blamed for two deaths in Memphis. Warnings from the National Weather Service remain in affect today and Saturday. Forecasters say north Mississippi should see a slight break in temperatures mid-week next week. (August 5, 2011, Page 1A)
