Moore ends NWCC’s playoffs early
One of the most successful seasons for the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers and head coach Ricky Woods came to an unfortunate end Saturday in the first round of the MACJC state football playoffs.
No. 12 Gulf Coast, led by the passing of former Ole Miss walk-on quarterback Clayton Moore, defeated the No. 4 Rangers 52-24 in front of a crowd of 1,452 fans at Bobby Franklin Field. The Bulldogs (8-2 overall), who will now square off against Copiah-Lincoln for the MACJC state title next week, scored early and often against the Rangers (9-1), who entered the game with just four defensive linemen to try and stop one of the best offenses in all of the junior college ranks.
