      Area fencers advance to regionals

      At The Gathering, a  November fencing classic, several Oxford fencers took top honors. In the 15-and-up age group, Oxford freshman Issac Manly took first place, outscoring opponents from Memphis, Collierville Academy (Tenn.), Christian Brothers (Memphis), Saint George (Memphis) and Jackson.         Area youths participate in tournament

        The Oxford Fencers Club hosted a youth fencing tournament March 10. Two age groups — Under-12 and Under-16 — competed in the tournament made up of mostly local fencers. Matthew Douglas, who fences at the Memphis University School, won the gold medal in the U-12 division. Elias Addy, who represents the Oxford Park Commission, won the silver medal, while Keelan Case of Oxford won the bronze medal. (more…) (March 20, 2012, Page 7)
