An Oxford man was found dead in his vehicle Friday. Coroner Rocky Kennedy said this morning it appears Mike Alderson, 64, may have suffered a heart attack before plunging his vehicle into a pond on private property. (October 28, 2013, Page 2A)
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck that happened Tuesday morning on Highway 6 at the Lafayette/Pontotoc county line. Carl E. Lockhart, 47, of Oxford was pronounced dead at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi after his Dodge Charger collided with a truck hauling logs at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday while traveling east on the highway. A 23-year-old woman was killed Monday in an early-morning wreck. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Ariel “Channing” Mitchell Rodgers was traveling on Highway 328 at 7:13 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. A Water Valley High School graduate was killed late early Sunday morning when his vehicle ran off the road for unknown reasons.
Jeremy Michael Barber, 19, was pronounced dead by Yalobusha County coroner Ronnie Stark just after midnight Sunday on Highway 32 East.
Barber suffered massive trauma during the one-vehicle wreck. It was unknown this morning what caused Barber to lose control of his vehicle. (November 15, 2010, Page 2A)
