Shafer places first in Double Decker 10K
Oxford resident Sheryl Chatfield was the overall female winner of the annual Double Decker 10K run held on Saturday. Chatfield finished the course in 41 minutes, 13 seconds. Her pace as a mile every 6:39. The overall male winner for the 10K race was Daniel Shafer of Memphis with a 39:39. His pace was 6:22 per mile. (May 3, 2011, Page 7)
Thompson, Olivi claim race titles Sunday
Beverly Thompson and Henry Olivi were the overall female and male winners of the Double Decker 10K Run held Sunday. Thompson won the men’s portion of the event with a time of 39 minutes, 22 seconds, while Thompson finished in 43:30.
Lafayette High running standout Esmeralda Rodriguez was the top female finisher in the 5K race with a 21:09.
Oxford’s Charlie Dawson was the top male finisher in the race with a 16:02. In the 5K competitive walk race, Lyann Lawrence of Taylor won with a 33:48, while Scott Owens of Oxford won with a 32:48. (April 26, 2010, Page 2B)
