Woman dies in Thanksgiving fire

A woman was killed Thanksgiving morning when the mobile home she was in caught fire.
Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy said three sisters were in the trailer on County Road 436 near Yocona when it caught fire. Two escaped; however Jachicka L. Knox, 22, died in the fire. (November 29, 2013, Page 1A)

    Local firefighters given Valor Award for heroic efforts

    Several Oxford firefighters were awarded for their valor and heroic efforts during a deadly fire in January where two woman lost their lives. The award was given to the firefighters on Friday in Jackson at the annual Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association banquet. (February 16, 2011, Page 1)

      Woman dies in Oxford fire

      An early-morning fire claimed the life of an Oxford woman and sent another woman to the hospital in critical condition, Oxford Fire Department Deputy Chief David Duchaine said.

      Firefighters got the call at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to respond to a fire at 1109 S. 14th St., the home of Frances Brown, who was critically injured in the fire. She was flown to a burn center in Alabama.

      Officials  have identified the woman who died as Patricia K. Wilkerson, 54, originally of Vicksburg. (January 20, 2011, Page 1)
