Some cases not prosecuted
At least three cases involving crimes against children have been retired to the files during the October court term.
Third Circuit District Attorney Ben Creekmore said he could not comment on the individual cases but that in general, sexual-based crimes are prosecuted like any other crimes, however, just because there’s been an arrest, doesn’t necessarily mean there is always a conviction.

Charges dropped against Oxford man
Charges against a man who allegedly molested a minor under the age of 15 more than 20 years ago have been dismissed.

One pleads in theft ring
On Monday one of five men plead guilty in a theft ring that crossed several counties. Cheyenne Wayne Fine will serve 13 years with five years of probation. More have been sentenced as the court term continues through the month of July. (July 14, 2010, Page 1)
