City, county officials urged to respond to Baptist
A meeting is set Monday for local officials and Baptist Hospital officials to discuss some of the particulars of a proposed new facility that would involve the current lease of the local hospital. Publisher Emeritus Jesse P. Phillips writes that the open meeting format is good and urges officials to work together for the good of the community and its health care facilities and programs. Separation of church, state can get confusing
The Mississippi State Senate approves a chaplain. Judges out west rule that a cross at a park is unconstitutional. Where’s the separation of church and state and where is the middle ground. Ole Miss’ Vaughn will have to return to hunt mode down the stretch
Chris Vaughn, Ole Miss’ recruiting coordinator for football, said four months ago at Ole Miss’ Media Day that he prefers to be in hunt mode when it comes to landing a recruit rather than protecting the verbal commitments he and the rest of the staff have already secured.
At the time, the Rebels had 14 verbal commitments and were about to garner another five before the 2010 season even started.
Vaughn and the rest of the staff have continued to gain commitments since that point, including the signatures of four junior college players earlier this month, but Vaughn will have to fight hard to regain a couple of players from Florida, the state that Vaughn has done a great job of recruiting since he arrived in Oxford.
