  • Eva Ellzy – 94, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. Services were held Saturday at the Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville, with the Rev. Jay Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
  • Anna Savage Phillips Russell – 70, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at her home in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon at the Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, with the Rev. Gene Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery.
  • Ruth Dale Allen Sneed – 83, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at her residence in Belden. Services were held this morning at Harrisburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Langerfeld, Dr. Forrest Sheffield and the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial followed in Lee Memorial Park. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
  • Elmar Lee Summar – 85, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services were held Saturday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, with Bro. Randy Hope officiating.
  • Jimmy Wortham – 60, died Saturday at his residence in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.

    • Sammye Carter Baker, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with the Rev. Danny Dabbs, the Rev. Annette Ford and Matthew Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:30 until 6 this evening at the funeral home.
    • JoAnn Evans Bennett, 76, a retired bookkeeper at Otasco, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at her home in Oxford. Funeral services will be Wednesday at noon in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
    • Robert Grisham “Bob” Bennett Sr., 77, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at his home in Oxford. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, with the Rev. Claire Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories at the funeral home. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • David Joseph Fallica, 67, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home in Calhoun County. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford was in charge of local arrangements.
    • Lesley Lonnie Stewart, 100, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with the Rev. Johnny Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in New El Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held for an hour and a half prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • Dr. Joe Wayne “Doc” Walker, 75, of Water Valley died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Bain and Bro. Hal Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation is planned for Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Water Valley.

      JOSH BOOKER – 95, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at his home in Water Valley. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with Pastor Phillip Brackett, Pastor Mitchell Steen, Minister Steve Allen and Minister Curtis Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
