As the proud owner of the first residential solar installation in Oxford, Lowry Lomax’s main objective is to help the environment. Completing a process that began eight months ago, Lomax worked with Mississippi Solar, the Oxford Electric Department and Avent Builders to complete the installation of the panels at his home on Tyler Avenue. (February 3, 2010, Page 1)

    No wine for Valentines?

    Despite support from city officials, the State Tax Commission rejected Oxford’s request for a one-time exception for on-premise Sunday alcohol sales for Valentine’s Day. Given that Oxford has been allowed Sunday alcohol sales periodically over the years, the denial came as a shock to local officials and business operators. (February 3, 2010, Page 1)

      Schools, city agree on school resource officer plan

      The Oxford Board of Aldermen approved a contract with the Oxford School District to continue with the current funding arrangement for the six school resource officers, or SROs, through the summer. (January 21, 2010, Page 2)
