Man dies in 1-car wreck

An Oxford man was killed in a one-car wreck Thursday afternoon near the on ramp on Highway 6 and Old Taylor Road heading west after the car apparently veered off the road.

According to Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy, Tommy Brown, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown was a life-long resident of Oxford and owner of Brown Insurance.

Brown was traveling east in his white 2011 Ford F250 pickup on Highway 6 between Coliseum Drive and Old Taylor Road when he crossed over the median for unknown reasons and left the roadway near the Old Taylor Road ramp, according to the Oxford Police Department. (October 20, 2011)
