Preparations under way for Run for Hope

    Olympic skier visits with fellow diabetics

    Olympic skier Kris Freeman spent a day with 94 children at Camp Hopewell’s Diabetes Camp this week. Freeman was diagnosed with diabetes at 19 years old and has competed in three winter Olympics despite his illness. (June 29, 2012, Page 1B, 3B)

      Runs aid kids’ diabetes camp

      On Saturday, the Run for Hope 5K run and half marathon will  be held in Oxford. More than 500 runners have already signed up for the race and organizers expect another 150 to join as walk-ins on Saturday.

      The race begins at 8:30 a.m. for the half-marathon and 8:45 a.m. for the 5K run. The race will begin at the Oxford Convention Center off Sisk Boulevard. (February 22, 2011, Page 1)

        Run for Hope half marathon, 5K drawing near

        Last year’s inaugural Run For Hope Half Marathon and 5K Run attracted more than 600 participants and was a community-wide affair that benefits camps for youngsters with diabetes and cancer at Camp Hopewell.             Run for Hope a community-wide event

            Many local runners are taking part and many other citizens have volunteered for a wide variety of jobs at Saturday’s Run for Hope Half Marathon and 5-K run. Now, it’s time for the rest of us to do our part to cheer everyone on as they take part in a local event that helps a special cause at Camp Hopewell and could mean so much to the community. (February 24, 2010, Page 4)
