Lady Trojans snap WV winning streak

WATER VALLEY — Casey Clouse was at a loss for words Friday night as her Water Valley Lady Blue Devils had a three-game winning streak snapped by the Bruce Lady Trojans. Ineffective pitching and costly errors were at the root of Water Valley’s problems, as a 10-run sixth inning propelled Bruce to a 17-10 victory. (March 11, 2013, Page 3B)

Devils’ happy feet kicks WVHS past Bruce

WATER VALLEY — Water Valley kicker Alex Robles knows his range — really well.

Before kicking the game-wining field goal to give Water Valley a 17-16 win against backyard rival Bruce on Friday night at Bobby Clark Field, Robles was asked by Blue Devils’ coach Brad Embry where the ball needed to be for him to be comfortable kicking. (September 10, 2012, Page 4B)

Blue Devils preparing for Trojan invasion

Last week’s victory at Calhoun City was a big one for the Water Valley Blue Devils as they ended a brief skid against the Wildcats.

Things won’t get any easier Friday when the Blue Devils (3-0 overall) host another regional rival in the Bruce Trojans (3-0).

In their first three games of the season against Kennedy, Vardaman and Coffeeville, the Trojans have flexed their muscles by out-scoring their opponents 136-20. (September 6, 2012, Page 9)

Oxford shows youth on Senior Night

The Oxford Lady Chargers didn’t wrap up their home slate like they would have liked Monday, falling to Bruce 6-3 on Senior Night.
With the playoffs right around the corner, Oxford’s inability to consistently close out innings without allowing Bruce to score, coupled with the Lady Chargers’ errors in the field and on the base path, bothered head coach Lauren Hill. (April 17, 2012, Page 7)

Blue Devils’ second-half rally falls short

WATER VALLEY — Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, football is a game that consists of two halves.

Had Water Valley’s junior varsity squad only counted its second half on Monday night it would have blanked the Bruce Trojans 14-0. (more…) (October 11, 2011, Page 6)
