    Oxford resident and Eagle Scout Drew Mulkey recently returned to Oxford after a 12-day trip to Bogota, Colombia to attend the Inter-America Scout Jamboree. He was one of five North Americans to attend the event. (February 6, 2013, Page 5)

              Girl Scouts provides more than delicious cookies

              News Editor Jonathan Scott recalls his days as a Boy Scout and all that it did for him, and then relates that to the same types of things that girls get from Girl Scouts.                 Three earn Eagle Scout ranking since January

                Earning the highest rank in Boy Scouts is no easy task. Nationally, statistics list that only 2 percent in earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Oxford’s Boy Scout Troup 45 is making mincemeat of that statistic by honoring three boys who earned their Eagle Scout ranking since January. Those scouts are Rustin Rasberry, David Rozier III and William Alexander. (July 12, 2010, Page 1)

                  Honor for ‘Preacher’ Lovelady very fitting

                  Family members are putting together a very fitting tribute to Morris “Preacher” Lovelady, who’s contributed so much to the Lafayette-Oxford-University community through his work on campus, with the summer baseball programs and with Boy Scouts. The “Preacher” Lovelady Silver Beaver Golf Scramble, set for July 17 at the University Golf Course, will honor Lovelady and benefit one of his favorite causes. (June 18, 2010, Page 4A)

                    Boy Scouts grow with the times

                    For the last 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America have changed with the times but have remained true to their basic fundamental values. Boy Scouts still work to earn merit badges in more than 120 areas including first-aid, camping and astronomy, as they have done since their conception 100 years ago. (February 24, 2010, Page 1)
