Events around the community – this summer’s dialogue and action between First and Second Baptist churches about past wrongs, last weekend’s dedication of the Burns-Belfry Museum & Multicultural Center and this weekend’s open house at the former black, one-room Newell School – are all signs of progress in race relations.
