Williams has career day in win over AU
NEW ORLEANS — In an arena where NBA stars shine on a regular basis, Ole Miss junior guard Nick Williams performed like a professional standout for the Rebels Thursday night.
Williams led the resurgent Rebels to a 68-54 win over Auburn in the first round of the 2012 Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament by scoring a career-high 22 points. Williams, who came in averaging just over 10 points a game, was sensational shooting the ball from the field. Rebels focused on first opponent
Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said he would love to see if his team’s perceived lack of depth would become a problem in the late stages of this week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament at the New Orleans Arena. Kennedy was asked during Monday’s Southeastern Conference men’s basketball teleconference if depth issues could hurt as the Rebels move on in the tournament that begins Thursday night against Auburn.
