Colonel Rebel may have disappeared from the sidelines at Ole Miss games several years ago, but there are many Rebel faithful who still show their support for the vacated mascot.
This fall, as Ole Miss officials continue to work on introducing a new mascot to the public, the Colonel will be seen a lot around town and in the stands of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

AROUND THE SQUARE AND BEYOND: Thursday was a very, very busy day in the world of college football and the Pac-10 conference. Not only did the conference’s top football program, USC, get hit with NCAA sanctions not seen since the early 1990s, but the league expanding by one with the addition of Colorado.
It’s obvious that having USC lose 30 scholarships over the next three years and miss two years of bowl games is not a good thing for the Pac-10, but the blow of seeing the conference’s best football program hurt for the next three years was softened with the arrival of the Buffaloes, who became the first team to enter the league since 1978. AROUND THE SQUARE AND BEYOND — To stay or not to stay. That’s the big question that has been on the mind of Ole Miss men’s basketball guard Terrico White since he placed his name into the NBA draft a little less than a month ago.
White has been gathering input on whether he’s good enough to be picked in the first round of the upcoming draft since early April and with his school commitments now out of the way, White has been working hard trying to impress NBA brass during individual workouts. (May 5, 2010, Page 9)
