While considering revamping city codes to allow cold beer and light wine sales in Oxford for the first time in 40 years appeared to be a progressive move for the Board of Aldermen, Alderman Janice Antonow gave the board more food — or beverage — for thought by suggesting the board also consider allowing off-site beer sales on Sundays. The board will consider their options during a public hearing scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 6. (July 24, 2013, Page 1A, 2A)
A request to extend bar hours until 2 a.m. was denied by the Oxford Board of Aldermen on Tuesday. The board did approve $37,000 for security cameras to install around the Square by mid-August to improve security after recent crimes in the area. (July 6, 2011, Page 1)
A public hearing on Sunday alcohol sales is set for Thursday but with a location change.
The hearing has moved from City hall to the Oxford Conference Center at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The Alcohol Task Force will meet at 4:30 for a commitee meeting before the public hearing. (August 31, 2010, Page 2)
