City, OFD crack down on 2 Square restaurants
During a special meeting of the Oxford Board of Aldermen Monday, the board agreed to send a letter to three Square restaurants informing them that they need to either build a second exit or keep their capacity down to 49 or face sanctions for violating state fire codes. (December 7, 2011, Page 2)
2nd Annual Oxford Blues Festival launches Friday, July 21
OXFORD TOWN – The blues will heat up Oxford this weekend, featuring 25 acts from four states as the 2nd Annual Oxford Blues Festival launches at venues all over town beginning Friday, July 22. Many young people want to see the world while they are still young, but few want to visit those darker corners of the globe where people are suffering. That is what sets Tamara Powers apart from most. A recent UM grad and waitress at Ajax, Powers is trying to raise $11,000 for a mission trip called World Race. (August 17, 2010, Page 1)
Sunday sales OK with owners
If Sunday alcohol sales are allowed in Oxford, most local bar and restaurant operators say they would support expanding alcohol services. A survey conducted by the Oxford EAGLE found that most restaurants are in support of Sunday sales and agree the issue is important, but owners are not sure if they would open just because of alcohol sales.
