COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Ole Miss’ season comes down to one game. An early 1-0 lead didn’t hold up as the Rebels lost 5-2 to Texas Christian Sunday night at Texas A&M’s Blue Bell Park. The loss came after the Rebels advanced to the regional championship with a 6-2 win over TCU on Friday and a 6-3 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. Ole Miss (37-25 overall) couldn’t hold off a surging TCU team that got some timely hits down the stretch on Sunday night to earn the victory just hours after the Horned Frogs defeated the Aggies 10-2 to advance. Ole Miss will now face the Horned Frogs in the regional championship tonight at 6:30. (June 4, 2012, Page 6)
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Don’t make too much of the fact that Ole Miss opened its season at Texas Christian University because long-time friends Mike Bianco and Jim Schlossnagle definitely aren’t.
In fact, the way representatives from both teams talked during Thursday’s media day in the underbelly of Texas A&M’s Blue Bell Park, they might as well have not played one another Feb 17-19. (June 1, 2012)
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Don’t expect to see a completely emotional Bobby Wahl on the mound today when the sophomore makes his first NCAA Tournament start for the Rebels.
While he’s likely to be amped up by the atmosphere and the circumstance, the 2012 version of Wahl has learned to harness his emotions a bit more than his freshman self. (June 1, 2012, Page 6A)
The feel-good moment of seeing “Ole Miss” appear on the television Monday was short lived. Within an hour of the announcement, the Rebels were back on the diamond at Oxford-University Stadium preparing for this weekend’s College Station (Texas) Regional. Really, as head coach Mike Bianco pointed out, the preparation began as soon as the Rebels returned from the Southeastern Conference Tournament. (May 31, 2012, Page 6)
