Seamstress reaches century mark
Eva H. Johnson will proudly tell you she’s lived in her home on South Lamar Boulevard for 50 years.
Even more proudly, she will tell you at the age of 100, she still lives in that house alone.
Johnson was born on Dec. 1, 1910, two miles west of Banner. She has lived alone since her husband, Willie A. Johnson, died in 1981 at the age of 90. (December 1, 2010, Page 1)
Parks celebrates her centennial birthday
Inez Bonds Parks came home Saturday to celebrate her 100th birthday with more than 100 members of her large family.
Parks, a Lafayette County native, now lives with her daughter, Becky Thomas, in Columbus. But it’s the small community of Philadelphia that she calls home. (November 15, 2010, Page 1A)
