  • Samuel Lomax “Sam” Hollowell — 73, died Friday, July 9, 2010. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Waller Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
  • Louis Oscar Vause — 84, died Thursday, July 8, 2010. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Charleston Cemetery. A visitation with the family will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oxford-University United Methodist Church and a service will follow at 2:30 at the church. Newsom Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.

  • John W. Naron Jr. — 82, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clear Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Waller Funeral Home.
  • Amy Dell Spencer — 97, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at her son’s home in Oxford. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Anchor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Waller Funeral Home and again, one hour prior to the service at the church.

  • Dorothy Murphrey Jones — 86, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
  • Alan B. Locke — 79, died Wednesday at his home near Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford.
  • Dr. Charles Denton O’Dell — 73, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lavonia Presbyterian Church in Lavonia. A reception will follow at the Lavonia United Methodist Church fellowship hall across the street. A celebration of his life is planned for 2 p.m. July 10 at Camp Hopewell near Oxford, with a reception to follow. A memorial service is also planned for 4 p.m. July 14 at the Estatoah Wayfarers Chapel in Dillard, Ga. Strickland Funeral Home, Lavonia Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
  • Dorothy Louise Russell — 74, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

  • Kenneth M. Binkley — died at his home Thursday, June 24, 2010. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
  • Lovie Ann Eubanks — 69, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the Union County Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at East Baptist Church in Pontotoc, with Pastor Artie Webber officiating. Burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 this evening at the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc. Family fellowship will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the burial.
  • James Solon “Jim” Oakley — 89, of Water Valley died at his home on Saturday, June 26, 2010. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with Bro. Barry Dickerson officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
