  •  Betty Lou Melton — 75, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Oxford Health and Rehabilitation in Oxford. Services were held Sunday in the Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial followed in the Lambert Cemetery.
  • Cho-Cho Porter — 75, died Sunday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
  • John Whitten Street — 88, died Friday, March 29, 2014, at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Oxford. Services were held Sunday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial followed in Tupelo Memorial Park.
  • Alex James “A.J.” Vance — 83, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Myrtle. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery in Etta. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 this evening at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, and for 30 minutes prior to Tuesday’s service at the church.
  • William David Wood — from Oxford died this morning at his home in El Dorado, Ark. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home in Oxford.

  • Alice L. Horton — 84, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at her home. Services will be held at noon Tuesday at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
  • Robert Jackson Mullins — infant son of Robert Brian and Leigh Carole Gordon Mullins of Oxford, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Graveside services were held Sunday at Shannon Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
  • Karen Sue Walker Williams — 49, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at noon Tuesday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery in Vaiden. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Church in Lafayette County. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serenity-Martin Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
  • Paul Morris Cavanaugh — 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his home in Oxford. According to his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
  • Clifton L. Green — 73, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, in Mobile, Ala. Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Biloxi. Burial with military honors will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
  • David Aston Holley — 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Visitation will be held for an hour and half prior to the service at the funeral home.
  • Roscoe Dewey Newton Jr. — died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at his home in Senatobia. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Oxford Memorial Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
  • Jeya “Jay” Suppiah — 46, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Verona. A Mass for the Deceased will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo. He was formerly of Oxford. Additional arrangements are incomplete with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors.

  • Duffie Martin Jr. — 93, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Hopewell M.B. Church in Taylor. Burial will follow in Yocona Cemetery in Taylor. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
  • Edna Jean Jones Parker — 64, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at her home in Chicago. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
  • Austin Henderson Russell — 91, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Aldersgate Retirement Community in Meridian. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford.
