BBQ Benefit
The VFW and Pork Fiction Bar-B-Q team will have a benefit for Mandy McCord from 5 to 8 p.m. June 19, at the Veterans Building. Boston Butts can be ordered for $25 each and barbecue plates will be available for $10 each. A silent auction and karaoke will also be featured. Veterans Fundraiser
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the local Veterans Building will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Veterans Building, 125 Veterans Drive. Dine-in or carry-out plates available. Plates will contain spaghetti, cole slaw, bread, dessert and drink and cost $10 each. (May 13, 2010)
Veterans Memorial Park pavilion takes shape
Plans to build a Veterans Memorial Park are finally starting to take hold, thanks to the hard work and dedication of local veteran organization members. It’s located on Veteran’s Drive, between South Lamar Boulevard and Highway 7. (March 11, 2010, Page 1A)
American Legion
American Legion Post 55 will meet Thursday at the Veteran’s Building on the corner of South Lamar and Veteran’s Drive. Supper and fellowship begin at 6 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 7. All veterans are invited to attend. (March 10, 2010)
