Lots of William Faulkner memorabilia, including his Nobel Prize for Literature, have been on loan and display at the University of Mississippi. Possibly no more, News Editor Jonathan Scott writes as he looks into the possibility of valuable items being sold at auction. Oxford Blues Festival reloads this weekend

OXFORD TOWN – The 2012 version of the Oxford Blues Festival reloads this weekend all around Oxford and the Oxford Square. The event kicks off at the University Museum on Friday at 4 and ends at Foxfire Ranch in Marshall County on Sunday featuring some of the hottest blues acts and musicians in the country. Trail to Rowan Oak recognized

The short trail through the 30-acre Bailey’s Woods that links William Faulkner’s house, Rowan Oak, to the University of Mississippi Museum was recently designated as a National Recreation Trail, which could lead to numerous benefits for one of the community’s most popular hiking paths. (June 5, 2012, Page 1)

Bruce Levingston returns to Ole Miss for a night of classical elegance

OXFORD TOWN – Acclaimed pianist and Mississippi native Bruce Levingston returns to the University of Mississippi this week for a concert at Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts tonight (Thursday, Feb. 2). The concert, set for 7, also features renowned violinist Colin Jacobsen and the Brooklyn Rider String Quartet. Art abounds around town

OXFORD TOWN – Last week, the University Museum unveiled its latest art exhibit “One World, Two Artists; John Alexander and Walter Anderson” headlining a frenzied art explosion all around the L-O-U community. Other exhibits include the showing of Bozarts Art Gallery’s exhibit “12 Invite 12,” the Powerhouse’s ongoing exhibit “Costal Art Show” and a new exhibit at Southside Gallery (photos on Page 12). The 2010 painting on the Oxford Town cover this week is titled “Octopus” by Alexander and the photo seen here titled “Stormy Monday” is also by Alexander. The 2nd Annual Oxford Endurance Weekend cranks up Friday, Aug. 5

OXFORD TOWN – The cover of this week’s Oxford Town features SmartSync Oxford Endurance Weekend, a jam packed weekend of endurance races, which begins at the University Museum with the Rowan Oak 5K on Friday and ends Sunday on the Oxford Square with the Oxford Square Criterium. Page 6 in this issue has a schedule, photos and other details about the upcoming full weekend of endurance races as athletes around the country invade Oxford with their bikes and triathlon gear. 2nd Annual Oxford Blues Festival launches Friday, July 21

OXFORD TOWN – The blues will heat up Oxford this weekend, featuring 25 acts from four states as the 2nd Annual Oxford Blues Festival launches at venues all over town beginning Friday, July 22.
