J.M. “Flick” Ash writes to say that when he was a member of the state legislature helping bring NMRC (in the 1970s) and the State Veterans Home (in the 1990s) to Oxford, one of the main factors was that the Oxford hospital was located nearby. Attorney: Retire murder charges against Autry
The attorney for Bilethon Autry is asking the Circuit Court to allow his client to be transferred to a state mental hospital for treatment. In a motion filed Tuesday, Ken Coghlan asked the court to consider retiring charges against Autry after a psychiatric evaluation. Despite a history of mental illness, Autry was released from the North Mississippi Medical Center and then shot and killed his brother during a three-hour standoff with police. Coaches team up for kids
During a football game, Rebel coach Houston Nutt and Bulldog coach Dan Mullan are on opposite sides of the field, both instructing their teams to do whatever necessary to beat the other’s team.

York’s “Smokes and Ears” popular at Tupelo Film Festival
OXFORD TOWN – It would have to take something pretty special for me to become fascinated with pig ears. But then, Joe York’s documentaries typically fit the bill to give me a new perspective on a topic.
