Preparing for the Tide

With Saturday’s home football game against the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide only a day away, city officials, restaurant owners and just about everyone in Oxford are bracing themselves in expectation of the tidal wave of people expected to slash down into the LOU area, with the effects being felt way beyond its borders.

‘College Game Day’ headed to Oxford

ESPN’s “College Game Day” will be in the Grove next Saturday. “For the first time in the pre-game’s show’s history, it will visit Oxford, and make camp inside a sea of tents in the heart of  one of college football’s most iconic tailgating spots when No. 10 Ole Miss hosts No. 3 Alabama,” according to a story that was posted this evening on the ESPN website. (September 28, 2014)

Ceremony thanks first responders

A ceremony was held Thursday evening in the Grove to conclude the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance activities and to honor local first responders and remember those who gave their lives by running into the burning Twin Towers when everyone else was running out. (September 12, 2014, Page 1)
