More land sold off Highway 6

Further investigation into the sale of large sections of land located off Highway 6 West, near the Cumberland subdivision, revealed a total of 107 acres were sold and transferred — not once, but twice in one day.

Speculation and rumors have suggested the land is being bought by Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi to be used as the spot for its new proposed $300 million regional referral center. (February 18, 2011, Page 1A)

Year in Review: Voters approve school bond issue

While students, parents and staff of the Oxford School District celebrated after voters approved a $30 million bond for a new high school and massive capital improvement plan, students, parents and staff of the Lafayette County School District rejoiced over their football team winning the Class 4A state championship game.

Vets honored at ceremony

The annual Veterans Day ceremony, held at the National Guard Armory Thursday,  started off with patriotic music supplied by the Oxford Middle School Band, under the direction of Marsha Morgan, Len Killough and Jared Brownlee.
