Rowan Oak, home of the late author William Faulkner, is a world treasure.

We are fortunate it just so happens to be located in the middle of Oxford.

We are also fortunate that Rowan Oak is in good hands, managed by the University of Mississippi Museum, under the leadership of Robert Saarnio, director.

The fact that guests from 58 countries and all 50 states have visited Faulkner’s home in Oxford during the past year is remarkable.

Ole Miss has played an integral role in preserving Faulkner’s home and legacy here, for the world to continue to visit and learn from. The care is seen in the impeccable grounds, and a home that is just as William Faulkner left it when he died in the early 1960s.

Since Faulkner remains one of the most studied author’s in the world, we know that Rowan Oak will be visited from far and wide for years more to come.

It’s wonderful to see Faulkner’s legacy so well preserved, cared for, and utilized. And we look forward to continuing to watch the world learn about such an important author and an important time in our community.
