Oxford Town Square

Musicians rally tonight on the Square to help storm victims

OXFORD TOWN – Musicians Shane Brown, Kelley Norris (pictured) and the One Mile South band take the stage tonight on the historic Oxford Square (in front of city hall and Neilsons) for a concert to benefit the recent storm victims in Lafayette County. The concert is being organized by Capt. James Prichard of the Oxford Fire Department. Page 16 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town has details about how you can rock out and help our neighbors at the same time starting tonight (May 5) at 6 on the Square. (May 5, 2011, Page 16)

Rodney Crowell set for Off Square Books tonight (Jan. 20)

OXFORD TOWN – Innate storyteller and country music legend Rodney Crowell is scheduled to visit Off Square Books tonight (Jan. 20) at 6 as he tours in support of his recently released memoir “Chinaberry Sidewalks.” Check out page 5 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town for Oxford Town Editor Jeff McVay’s coverage of his recent interview with Crowell where they discussed everything from Crowell’s “rough” childhood (that evolved into something good) to his classic, poetic storytelling through his music. We’re hopeful, confident even, that the Grammy award winning musician will show up with his guitar strapped across his back tonight at 6. After all, he is the storyteller. (January 20, 2011, Page 5)

Irie hosts Triple Songwriters Night this Saturday

The free show will feature three great songwriters; Ben Jordan from Denver, Allen Thompson from Nashville and Lafayette County’s own Kevin Larkin from Taylor. Page 6 in this week’s Oxford Town has details of what will prove to be an awesome night of acoustic music on the Square. (June 10, 2010, Page 6)
