Old Taylor Road project moves forward

The construction of roundabouts on Old Taylor Road took a step in a forward direction Tuesday night when the Board of Aldermen approved allowing the Mississippi Department of Transportation to “borrow” some of the city’s land.

Traffic calming policy OK’d; put in place

The Oxford Board of Aldermen approved a new city Traffic Calming Policy that will allow neighborhoods to request traffic calming measures on their roads and overturned a decision by the Oxford Planning Commission and approved the site plan for The Domain, to be built on County Road 300, off Old Taylor Road. (April 17, 2013, Page 6)

Major changes set for Old Taylor Road

Board of Aldermen approved a site plan amendment for Falkner Flats, a 618-bed development off Old Taylor Road, although two aldermen voted against it due to increased traffic and construction projects planned for the road by MDOT and Baptist Memorial Hospital. (March 20, 2013, Page 1, 2)

The city of Oxford is looking into annexing about 150 acres east of County Road 300, south of where Baptist will be putting its new hospital, to help provide another through-way from South Lamar to Old Taylor Road. Major road projects reviewed

The Mississippi Department of Transportation will hold two meetings next week, on Monday and Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center, to meet with Oxonians and Lafayette County residents about two upcoming road projects.
