In today’s fast-paced world, many people find themselves too busy for chores like routine car maintenance.

Brothers DeAndre and Josh Fondren have taken it upon themselves to remedy that problem by starting their own mobile oil change business, Fondren Lube-N-Go.

The Fondrens and their van can be seen throughout Lafayette County, traveling to their customers six days a week.

According to Josh, the idea to open up a mobile oil change business in the LOU community came from years of working at a brick-and-mortar shop.

“The reason I wanted to start this business is, when I worked at (other shops), we’d get so busy, and people would get mad because they’d have to wait and couldn’t go run their errands,” Josh said. “To knock all that out of the way, I decided this was the best way to do it.”

While larger cities have mobile oil change services, Josh said, there aren’t many, if any, in the Oxford area.

In addition to oil changes, which can be done with Mobil or Castrol oil, Fondren Lube-N-Go also can also do some routine tire maintenance, install windshield wipers, replace fluids and batteries and install air filters. All the customer has to do is request the services they want as well as the make and model of their vehicle. The Fondren brothers will provide the rest.

Having competitive rates is another asset of Fondren Lube-N-Go, Josh said.

For a conventional oil change up to five quarts, Fondren Lube-N-Go charges $48.95, plus tax. High mileage oil changes are $68.95 and synthetic is $79.95. For another $30, the Fondrens will change brake fluid and power steering fluid.

“It’s a convenience thing, really. You could be at your job, or at home – wherever you’re at, we’ll come to you,” Josh said. “We’re working from about 9 in the morning to when it gets dark, and the only day we take off is Sunday, to give God respect.”

While helping people make the most of their day is great, Josh said the best part of running the business with his brother is getting to meet new people and be a bigger part of the community.

At the end of each job, the Fondren brothers complete a complimentary 21-point inspection and give the results to the customer for safekeeping. Their van is equipped with internet service, so customers can pay using cash or card, whichever they prefer.
