Two big gold trophies would look real nice

The Ole Miss Rebels claimed the Egg Bowl trophy last weekend in Oxford. Now, the Oxford High Chargers will be going to Starkville and MSU’s Davis-Wade Stadium to try to win their first-ever gold football signifying a state championship. We applaud the decision to take the championship games to sites other than Jackson and wish the Chargers well in their game Saturday night. (December 4, 2014, Page 4A)

Local teams get shot at ultimate goal

High school football teams in Mississippi have several goals: making the playoffs, practicing Thanksgiving week when school is out, earning a trip to Jackson for the state finals and, ultimately, winning a state championship. The two local teams, Oxford’s Chargers  and Lafayette’s Commodores, both get a shot at the ultimate goal – in the same season and on the same day – this weekend. (December 4, 2013, Page 4)
