‘The Help’ premiers; opens Aug. 10

OXFORD TOWN – The new film “The Help” opens Aug. 10 and many critics around the country have already seen it and are screaming its accolades. The Mississippi premiere took place in Jackson and the Oxford Film Freak was there along with James Meredith and Gov. Haley Barbour. Front Porch Dance set for the Powerhouse

OXFORD TOWN – A Jackson-based troupe of artists called Front Porch Dance is leading a journey through music and dance this weekend, with a special performance called “thislocation” Saturday night at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center. The group’s Oxford performance is sponsored by the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and the Mississippi Arts Commission. Doors open at 6:30 and the performance begins at 7:30.
