Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. He held a bachelor’s degree in physics and master’s and doctorate degrees in anthropology. He served in the U.S Navy as a pilot. Survivors include his wife, Deborah King Binkley of Abbeville

  • Leonard E. Thompson — 74, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the T.O.M.B. Association Building. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at East Providence M.B. Church. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
  • Raynard Turner — 43, died Saturday, June 19, 2010. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bayson M.B. Church in Water Valley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Serenity-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford and from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church in Water Valley.

  • John Eugene Lewis — 79, died Sunday, June 20, 2010. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

James West and the Rev. Hal Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
  • John Eugene Lewis — 79, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Memphis VA Medical Center in Memphis. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home, with Bro. Robert Frierson officiating. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
