Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Caregiver Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Azalea Gardens Assisted Living Community, 100 Azalea Drive, in Oxford. Meetings are open to all caregivers interested in those with Alzheimer’s and related memory loss disorders and provides resources and support for caring for individuals who have memory loss. Refreshments are provided compliments of Azalea Gardens. Council on Aging

The Council on Aging will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at Azalea Gardens Senior Care Community for coffee and an information exchange. This is an informal group that meets monthly to provide a network of communication exchange for those who work with and on behalf of our older citizens. All service agency providers and interested volunteers throughout the area are encouraged to attend these monthly networking meetings. Alzheimer’s Support Group

The Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Caregivers Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Azalea Gardens Assisted Living Community in Oxford. The group will host a reception to commemorate the start of the 26th year of its monthly meetings. Members of the community will also be recognized who have supported the caregiver group and the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association through the years. Also to be honored are the dedicated caregivers who have or who are providing care of loved ones dealing with memory loss. All former and present families and loved ones are requested to be a part of the reception. Mary Nell Dorris, board president of the Mississippi Alzheimer’s Association, will present “There’s a whale in the pool” to the group after the reception. Grief Support Group

North Mississippi Hospice will sponsor a grief support group meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Azalea Gardens. The meeting is open to anyone who has experienced loss. A light lunch will be provided. For more information, call 234-0140. (November 10, 2010)

C.A.R.E. Support, Exchange Group

The Caring for Aging Relatives Effectively (C.A.R.E.) support and exchange group meets at noon Wednesday at Azalea Gardens Assisted Living Community. This is an informal luncheon that provides those in caring situations an opportunity to exchange ideas, resources and concerns with others. A light lunch is provided compliments of Azalea Gardens. J.R. Witt, president and founder of 1st Liberty Financial, will present a free seminar on Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefit at noon Monday at Azalea Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Oxford.
