Oxford proves to be better Lady Charger squad in first-round matchup

OHS girls go 1-2 in Brooke Welch Tourney

Oxford’s girls soccer team earned its first win of the season over the weekend with a 2-1 triumph over Gautier. Oxford (1-5 overall) lost 2-0 to Warren Central and 2-1 to Northwest Rankin in the other two games. Oxford girls down New Albany

The Oxford Lady Chargers soccer team earned a 4-0 win over New Albany Tuesday night. Mary Helen Rychlak led the team with two goals scored. Maggie Mitchell added a goal off an assist from Maia Cotelo, while seventh-grader Zoe Scruggs added the final goal. Emily Meadows had three saves in goal for the Lady Chargers, while Megan Murphy also had a save in the split shutout. (November 17, 2010, Page 7)

Chargers, Lady Chargers open with tourney titles

The Oxford High soccer teams got the 2010-11 season off to a good start by winning the Patriot Classic held at Lewisburg on Saturday.

The Lady Chargers went 3-0 to capture the title, while the Chargers went 2-0-1. Oxford’s girls defeated Lake Cormorant 3-0 in the first game, North Pontotoc 3-0 in the second and then topped Lewisburg 1-0 in the title game. (November 8, 2010, Page 3B)
